Letter to the citizens of the city of Cincinnati
If there were ever a moment in our city's history requiring strong leadership to reduce violent crime, now is the time. The city of Cincinnati cannot afford to rest its hopes of dropping off the Top-25 most dangerous cities list on public relations ploys. The citizens deserve better than that.
People who know me, Charlie Winburn, know that I am a vigorous defender of law and order and decency. In the late 90's while on city council, I started the FACT program (Fighting Against Crack Trafficking) which resulted in the city of Cincinnati achieving a 20-year low in its violent crime rate in Y1999 .

The question is, "What is our local government doing to ensure our safety and security; and what should the public know about the most dangerous criminals among us?"
We have conducted data analysis regarding whether these individuals are in jail: local, state or federal custody and found that approximately 57% were not in jail, where they should be, but instead are roaming free on the streets. Moreover, there is no guarantee that those in jail will not be released pending trial or other terms of release.
We intend to explore this topic at length as advocates for safer neighborhoods. We welcome your questions, comments and participation in this effort.
Sincerely,
Charles Winburn
Candidate for City Council
